WAMMFest (Women And Minorities in Media) is celebrating its 5th anniversary in 2012!

WAMMFest strives to celebrate and encourage women and minorities in be involved in media production, and we do this through a call for works and talks and screenings by WAMMFest guest artists.

WAMMFest holds an annual call for audio and video works for students through professionals, to acknowledge and screen the best works.  The categories for the call include animation, documentary (audio or video), narrative (audio or video), experimental, and music production.  The call is in winter/spring, this year is our first year using withoutabox to have the call reach as far as possible.

WAMMFest guest artists are award-winning women and/or minority media production artists who are experts in their field, and want to share their experiences with WAMMFest attendees.  Past guest artists have included audio/video artist Catherine Pancake, multi-Grammy Award winner Leslie Ann Jones, documentary director Gwendolyn Cates, Peabody Award winners The Kitchen Sisters, documentary filmmaker and producer Virginia Galloway.

This year, for our 5th anniversary, we are proud to have director and actor Jamil Walker Smith and producer Brittany Ballard.  They will screen their new film An American Dream and talk about their experiences making the film, as well as teach two master classes.

We hope you can join us by entering your audio or video work into the call, or attending WAMMFest on March 30th and 31st 2012.
